The SAC lies to the west and south of Tunstead Quarry and the south and east of Old Moor Quarry. The closest approach to the quarries is in the Great Rocks Dale, where it borders Buxton Central, which is being restored currently but the planning boundary is coincident with the SAC boundary along Flag Dale to the east of Old Moor Quarry.
